Programs Re-Opening at The Corner
During these difficult times, The Corner has been determined to maintain programs and services for the community. During the midst of lockdown, The Corner’s brilliant volunteer team assisted in delivering meals to vulnerable residents and worked tirelessly to ensure that St. James Town’s most isolated residents were able to get food, medicine and some form of social interaction. Read more...
A Summer at Home: Supporting children’s activities through a pandemic
“Pivot” – one of the most widely used words of the past six months refers to what countless individuals and organizations have done to respond to the new COVID-19 reality. This article showcases three organizations that have been serving families with children in and near St. James Town — Reaching Out through Music, summerlunch+, and The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO). Calling all SJT Residents!
Following the resignation of Federal MP Bill  Morneau, the seat in St. James Town’s riding  of Toronto Centre has become vacant. A by election has been called for Oct 26 to fill the  vacant seat. These elections will be organized during the  COVID-19 pandemic; which Elections  Canada will be planning changes to ensure a  safe election process. Safety protocols will  be in place at polling stations, including  physical distancing measures. Voters can  also apply to vote by mail-in ballot. Over the past two years, The Corner has been reflecting on past and present challenges and opportunities that have shaped our unique model of community development for over a decade. To launch The Corner 2.0, we’d like to share with you two new reports, "Envisioning and Promoting The Corner 2.0"  and "The Corner @ 240: An Improvisational and Collaborative Space of Sustainability.”  We invite you to be part of this initiative and strengthen further and champion the concept of The Corner 2.0.
