The 240 Share and Reuse Space aims to support a culture of reusing, sharing, repairing and repurposing items to prolong their life. In line with this philosophy we have initiated daily repairs and mending at the 240 Space.
Residents can now bring in small home appliances like radios, music players, ovens, heaters, fans, vacuum cleaners, and small furniture which are broken and need to be refurbished. This is in addition to the ‘Fix-it Mondays’ in partnership with Repair Café where residents can come and join the volunteers in fixing their broken items. Daily Repair happens three days a week on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 5-7 PM. The program is led by resident volunteers Wayne and Abdullah who are also volunteers with Repair Café. Apart from fixing, the fixers will also work with you in the repair process if you are interested. The program gives residents the flexibility of dropping off their item and picking it up on a later date as instructed by the fixers.
Also happening on Fridays is a sewing and mending service where resident volunteer Shazia will help you fix clothes which are torn or need alteration.
The service is scheduled between 1-3 PM. Please note that we do not provide tailoring services to stitch new garments, but only mending services.
If you have items/clothes that need repair please bring them to the 240 Share and Reuse Space and let’s fix them together. Also please write to us if you would like to volunteer with us.
