The Bleecker – Wellesley Activity Network had it’s Annual “For the Love of Seniors” on Valentine’s Day 2019. Here are a few snapshots from the event.

The Bleecker/Wellesley Activity Network had it’s Annual “For the Love of Seniors” on Valentine’s Day 2019. Over 100 participants took part in the 3 hour event that took place at Wellesley Community Centre on Valentine’s Day.

Participants at the Registration Desk. Participants were provided with welcome kits.

Apart from being a fun and activity based event, several service providers were present at the venue helping residents connect with their services.

Agencies including Sherbourne Health Centre, Dixon Hall, Neighbourhood Information Post, Central Neighbourhood House, Progress Place, Community Corner, 519 Community Centre, Neighbourhood Legal Services, Alzheimer’s Society, Toronto Fire, Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Society of Sharing, Hospice Toronto, Toronto Intergenerational Partnerships.

Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College Interns along with a Doctor were present for consultations. Several participants also received adjustments during the event.

In wake of the recent safety related incidents in the neighborhood, Toronto Fire made a presentation on fire safety and precautions and the do’s and don’ts during a fire.

Toronto Fire demonstrated live drills, equipment and necessary know how in case of a fire in a high rise.

There were also several cultural and recreational programs including a Hawain dance by Trini and songs by volunteers Faith and Jeremy.

The event was made more exciting with the presence of professional juggler Sydney. This was 20 minutes of awe and surprise for several participants. Many of them trying juggling themselves.

Lunch comprising choice of chicken, tuna, beef, salami, egg or veggie wraps, fresh fruit, water and a sweet treat was served to participants.
